How do you wait until business hours before sending?

Use the wait for a good time step. It holds the flow until it is inside your allowed hours, in the contact's own time zone when that is known, and passes straight through when the window is already open.

This is different from a fixed wait step, and the difference matters. A fixed wait of eight hours sends at 3am for anyone eight hours from where you set it. Wait for a good time asks what time it is for them.

Where it belongs:

  • Before any message that would wake someone up.
  • Not before the first reply in a conversation someone just started. They are

there now; holding that reply until 9am is the worst possible use of this step.

The time zone fallback chain is worth understanding, because the contact's time zone is often unknown. When there is no time zone on the contact, the step uses the fallback you set, and if there is none, your business's own hours. So a flow that reaches a mixed audience behaves predictably rather than guessing.

One caution specific to Meta channels: holding a message until tomorrow morning may push it outside the 24 hour messaging window, and then it cannot be sent at all. Wait for a good time is safe for Telegram, email and SMS. On Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, use it for the parts of a flow that are already inside a fresh window, and put anything that must arrive in the first exchange.

The interaction with the 24 hour window is the trap. We hit it.

Not delaying the first reply is obvious in hindsight and we still got it wrong. ---
