Meta does not charge per message for Instagram DMs, so the cost of a thousand automated replies on Instagram is not a thousand times anything.
That is worth stating plainly because people arrive from SMS or from WhatsApp, where per unit pricing is real, and assume Instagram works the same way. It does not. Instagram and Messenger conversations have rate limits, not a price per send.
What does have a cost:
- WhatsApp. Meta charges per conversation there, which is a different model from Instagram and the reason a WhatsApp flow needs more thought before you scale it.
- SMS and email. These have per message costs from the carriers and providers, as you would expect.
- Your plan. Tools price on capacity rather than on Meta's costs, because Meta has none to pass on for Instagram.
So the honest budgeting question for a campaign that produces thousands of Instagram DMs is not the per message price. It is whether your plan's limits cover the volume and whether a human can handle the conversations that escape the automation, because that is where a good campaign actually gets expensive.
The pricing page has the current limits per plan. We deliberately do not quote numbers in community answers, because a number written here goes stale the first time pricing changes and then it is wrong in a place nobody looks.
