Send a payment link as a step in the flow, so the purchase happens from the message rather than after a journey to your site.
Where the drop off you are describing comes from: a product link opens a page, the page asks them to find the item again, choose options, create an account and enter card details, all on a phone, usually while doing something else. Every one of those is a place to leave.
A payment link skips most of that. The flow sends a link that already knows the item and the price, and the checkout is one screen.
The shape that works:
- Answer the question they actually asked. Price, size, shipping.
- One qualifying tap if the product has variants. Buttons, not typed answers.
- Send the payment link with the item and the amount already set.
- Tag the contact as sent, and add a branch for the ones who do not complete.
Two honest limits. There is no store integration, so the link is generated from the payment provider rather than pulled from your catalogue, and a flow cannot read live stock levels. If you sell hundreds of variants this is the wrong tool for the checkout and the right tool for getting them to the right page.
And follow up once, inside the window, not three times. A single "still want me to hold this" recovers a reasonable share; a sequence annoys everyone.
The Playbook: Comment-to-DM article has the qualifying step before the link.
