No. On Facebook Pages a comment automation can send a private message to the commenter, but it cannot post a public reply under the comment. Public auto-reply works on Instagram and X, not on Facebook.
This surprises people who used the same flow on Instagram and expected it to carry over. The trigger is there, the keyword matching is the same, the private reply works: the public reply step simply is not available for that channel.
What to do instead:
- Send the private reply, which is the part that carries the link or the answer.
- Have a person sweep the thread and leave a short public reply where it
matters. A comment thread with no visible business response reads as unattended even when everyone got a DM.
- If the public acknowledgement is the point, for example under an ad, consider
whether the campaign should run on Instagram where both halves are available.
We would rather write this down plainly than let you discover it in production. If a tool tells you it posts public auto-replies to Facebook comments, check what it actually sends before you build a campaign on it.
